I recently brought the Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick in 111 kiss of life.

I never really wear lipstick but I have always wanted to venture out of my comfort zone and start to wear it. I normally go for a lip balm which has no colour to it.

As soon as I saw the colours in the Kate collection I loved it, I loved the fact that it was Matte as I feel that sometimes with lipstick the lips can look a bit too shiny which for me personally I do not like.

It took me about 20 minutes to decide what colour to buy from my local Boots because the colours are so pretty! I decided to go with 111 Kiss of life, which is a matte red, quite a bright red but as it is matte I think I can pull it off. At Boots it is £5.49 which isn't too bad for a lipstick really!

As for the lipstick itself it goes on perfectly, although I do prefer applying it with a small brush. It doesn't smell like other lipsticks, it smells very fruity. As for lasting, I wore it recently in to town where I went for a Chinese meal and a trip to the cinema. I found that it did last quite well although I did have greasy food and so I did have to reapply it after this and after drinking quite a bit of water, but apart from that it lasted really well!

Buying this lipstick has made me want to buy a lot more mainly darker colours for fall, I have already brought another from a different brand which I shall do another post on once I have worn it out a few times.

Spoilers in the post! I am just going to be talking about a few things that happened in the book, not about everything as I could go on forever.

I am a huge True Blood fan, I can't wait until the next series comes out in a few weeks! I also read the books, I had preordered the newest book that has just come out, it came as soon as the book had been released, I had read the book in a day or two.

I have read a lot of reviews after I had read the book as I wanted to see if other people felt the same way that I had done. And some of them did.

I felt like the book didn't end very well. I had been looking forward to the last book in the series for so long! I was so excited to see if Sookie and Eric actually made it through the whole Sookie saving Sam's life instead of getting Eric out of a sticky situation. I was shocked by how it ended with Sookie being with Sam, her best friend and the guy she had told in the first few books that she couldn't see herself being with even though she thought he was hot.

I know that Harris had said that she had ended it how she wanted to and she had known for a while now how it was going to end, which is fair enough. What I don't get is why did she have Eric and Sookie for several books be in a relationship where they loved each other, had been through a lot together to have it all end with Eric not really fighting for Sookie like he had done in the past. It just felt like the Eric character that I had grown to love didn't show up in the book at all. He seemed weaker which I guess is understandable as what was happening to him was out of his hands, but he didn't seem to try to get out of it in anyway. I felt like he just expected Sookie to wave her hands and to get him out of the situation which obviously didn't happen and then to expect her to be his bit on the side just didn't seem right to me. I felt like he had given up to easy which from the other books wasn't the nature of his character. Also with Sookie telling Sam that she wasn't heart broken as to what had happened between Eric and herself, just didn't make sense. Just because of their history, and the fact that Bill had seemed to of hurt her more in the past than Eric in this book, when Sookie and Eric had been together longer, loved each other and from my point of view had more of a connection.

I guess I have always been a huge Sookie and Eric fan and hoped that they would make it through to the end, so the fact that this didn't happen I did feel let down, but you can't please everyone when writing books!

It wasn't just this that I was a bit confused by, the villains in the book were not the best, Amelia's dad and Claude?! Firstly I do not get why Amelia's dad blamed Sookie so much for his relationship with his daughter, that is his own fault. The cluviel dor wasn't even his to use it was Sookie's, I think it was a bit odd that he thought that by using it, it would fix everything instead of trying to build a relationship with Amelia. And his wish to get the cluviel dor, why didn't he just wish to have a better relationship with Amelia instead of thinking that cluviel dor was the answer to his problems. Also how on earth did he manage to get in contact with the devil in the first place?! Maybe I missed this bit out? I did read the book quite fast because I was so excited.

As for Claude, I was not expecting him to turn up again, I am not too sure what to say about him really, I think it was just an odd way of getting back at Sookie. After everything that Sookie has been through with the different sups after her I thought that having a few humans and fae after her wasn't very exciting, not with what has happened with her in the other books.

I thought that Arlene's death was pretty odd as well, I know it was to try to pin it on Sookie, but I just thought it was a bit of an odd thing to happen. I didn't see why Quinn was back in the last book either, was it a way to get Sam jealous so he could realise he still liked Sookie?! I do not know.

I could go on for ages about the book, there is so much more I could say, but there are so many reviews on it already that pretty much say that same things that are going on in my head. I love the books, I just was expecting a more epic ending to the series than what was in the book. I will be getting the one that is coming out in October about what happens next in the world of Sookie Stackhouse, just because I would like to see what happens to the characters.

Overall I was just expecting something more epic and not to confuse me as much as it had done as to what happened to some of the characters. This is just my opinion, not everyone is going to think the same as I do, but I just thought I would share my thoughts with who ever may be reading.
I picked up this 3D manicure set from Primark for £2.50 as I wanted to try it out. I got it in the cream colour as it would go with anything I wore, they also do a black and white bead kit and a pastel multicolour bead kit. In each pack it comes with a nail polish, funnel and beads.

The instructions say that you have to apply the nail polish first then while it is still wet pour over the beads and press them down onto the nail. I tried this first with the nail polish that was in the kit, I just painted this over my already lilac nails (Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Prickly Pear) and pour the beads onto my nail over a bowl to catch the beads that didn't stick. Only a few stuck to it, when I felt my nail it was already nearly dry. I had poured on the beads straight after I had applied the nail polish. I didn't like the look of it as because my nails were lilac and the nail polish that came in the kit almost white I felt like it looked a bit odd. I therefore took off the beads and repainted my nail with the Barry M colour I had on before.

This time I painted on quite a bit of the Barry M polish and poured on the beads this worked a lot better. A lot of the beads stuck to my nail this time and as I pressed the beads down in place the lilac polish was coming up through the tiny gaps which made my nails look like a lighter lilac which I quite liked. I found that some places on my nail were not covered by beads, I carefully repainted this section and used tweezers to carefully place a bead in the area that had none.

I did this for both of my little fingers to try it out as I am going to be decorating over the next few weeks and doing 3D work at uni my nails will get ruined. I really like the way it looks and it is so simple to do, the good thing is that you hardly use up any of the beads because there are so many of them in the bottle. The kit comes with a funnel as well which you can used to pour the beads that you didn't use back in the bottle which is great.

I am defiantly going to use this more when I am not going to be doing a lot of 3D work at uni or decorating my room. It is cheap to buy and easy to use so I would defiantly recommend it. I was thinking that instead of buying the beads from a kit like this you could easily buy some decorative beads off eBay for maybe even cheaper than the kit as there is no glue or anything like that you need to achieve to get this effect.

I found on the Superdrug website that MUA actually do a variety of different beads for nails, they are £3.

I decided that I would try out the Garnier Olia hair dye in Light Golden Blonde. I wanted to go a bit lighter for the summer and it said on the side that dark blonde would turn up quite light. I had heard from a friend of mine who had used it before that it was good hair dye and smelled nice. So I was looking forward to using it. I brought it from Asda where it was on offer for £6 I am not sure the original price I can't remember how much it said it was.

It comes with 5 things in the box, developer, colour, bottle to mix everything in, conditioner, gloves and instruction leaflet.

I mixed the developer and the colour in the bottle, there is a circle on the back of the box which you can pop out and you can put the bottle in this. I guess this is so its somewhere safe where you can empty the developer and colour into.

(colour chart is lighter in person)

It did smell quite nice, it wasn't as strong as other hair dyes I have used, normally my eyes water quite a bit from the scent but this time I didn't have that problem. It was quite weird putting it on my hair as it is quite creamy, like a hair mask rather than a dye. I decided that because the top half of my hair was darker than the bottom I would put the mixture on this first before putting it on the rest of my hair. In the instructions it says that if you want to touch up your roots to put it on the roots for 20 minutes and the rest of your hair for 10. I did this for my hair because of it being darker on the top than the bottom.

I did notice that my hair was going lighter while the dye was on my hair so I did have high hopes for it. After 30 minutes I washed it off in the shower and I dried my hair to see what colour it had turned out as. It hadn't turned out as light as it said it would, my dark blonde was still quite dark it had only lightened to about a medium blonde. My roots however lightened a lot it went to an almost orange colour, and my light blonde ends hadn't changed much at all.

I was expecting the dark blonde to lighten a lot more than it had done because it said it would on the box. I could of used bleach to lighten my hair even more but I am trying not to damage my hair as I want to grow it quite long. I decided that I would put a dark blonde on my roots to cover up the orangeness and brush it through to ombre it even more so the medium blonde would match my roots again.

In all this product smelt nice and other people I know who have used it have had good results. It just didn't take to my hair as well as it could of done.

The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable lip stain in charm I had ordered came in the post a few days ago!

I sometimes find that the colour that is on the packaging to show what colour the product is most of the time incorrect. However I found that the packaging colour was almost the same colour as the product, it is such a good match that you defiantly know what shade you are getting. I quite liked the fact that you don't have to sharpen it like a normal 'pencil' type makeup product. You just have to twist the silver bottom and it turned up, but don't turn it up to much because you may break it!

The colour is a little pigmented although I have heard that this lighter shade isn't as pigmented as some of the darker shades. As it is sort of a nude coral shade it doesn't need to be that pigmented as it just looks like that your lips are slightly tinted.

Before:

After:

(The natural lighting in the pictures is slightly different because of the sun!)

I have quite naturally dark lips so I found that the colour made my lips a bit paler but with a hint of coral which I do quite like. It has quite a minty scent as well which I thought would bother me at first because sometimes some mint scents can give me a headache, but I didn't find the mint scent to be a problem.

After a few hours my lips were a bit darker but the stain was still showing up. I even tested it out not long after I had put it on by drinking a cup of tea and the stain still seemed to be on my lips as nothing showed up on the mug unlike some lip products may do.  Normally with lip products I only wear them sometimes on a night out, however because this shade is quite subtle I find that I am wanting to wear it out in the day time.

I would recommend this product as I think that it is worth the money, I am glad that I took a leap and brought a lip stain after having no luck with lipsticks. I did look at cheaper versions of the same style of product but because of the good reviews I had seen/heard I am really glad that I brought this one instead of a cheaper version. I am not saying that the cheaper versions aren't good because for all I know they could be brilliant, I just haven't tried them out. As I have had some success with this shade I may go out and buy some other shades because Revlon do have some beautiful colours that are from what I have heard are wonderfully pigmented.

I have been wanting to try the L'oreal Feria Pastel Toning Conditioner for a while now but I haven't got round to buying it. I decided when I was out shopping the other day that I would pick one up, I decided to get the pastel lilac for £6 at Asda.

The instructions say that you need to apply the toning conditioner to wet hair. I therefore wet my hair and put on an old T-shirt incase it stained. I sectioned my hair into two and applied it to the tips as this is where I wanted the lilac to go. It also says that you can brush it through with a comb which I did as well. I used about a 10 pence size of the conditioner for each part of my hair. It says that you should leave it for 15 minutes, however my friend used the pink one and it didn't really show up on her hair so I decided to leave it on for longer. I left it on for about 45 minutes and then washed it off after and left it to dry naturally. I could see that the tips had turned slightly purple when it was still wet so I hoped that this was a good sign. You can't see that well in the photo but the tips are slightly purple.

I then put my hair up in a bun and left it to dry over night and part of the next day. I could see that my hair had slightly turned lilac-ish at the tips but it seemed to look more silver than lilac. I am not sure if my hair wasn't light enough to begin with that it hasn't turned full pastel lilac or if I needed to apply more of the toner than I did.

I decided that I would apply the toner again to see if it would turn my hair any more lilac as now it was more lighter than it was before. I applied it this time on dry hair and I put a lot more of the product on making sure I covered the area I wanted to be lilac. I left it on for about 45 minutes again, I found that it turned out a lot better than the first attempt as it was a lot clearer in natural light that it was lilac.

I washed my hair and the colour is still there, it isn't as lilac as it was it has faded slightly but as it only lasts 3-5 washes that will happen.

Overall I am quite impressed with the product, although you would defiantly need a very light blonde base for the toner to work. With the lilac because you can get purple toner to cancel out the yellow/orange tones it will help lighten the hair. I will defiantly be trying out the other toners as well. I have found that I have got loads of the product left so for £6 it does go a long way if you are only doing a small amount of your hair like I have done.

If you don't want to go down the toner route there are temporary hair dyes which I have previously used which would work as well. They are a bit cheaper and if you mix say a tiny bit of purple with conditioner it will turn it into a lilac pastel colour.

I shall post an update on how long the colour stays in my hair. I am guessing now that my ends have been toned with a purple that once the dye clears the ends will be a lot lighter than the rest of my hair. However as I have ombre hair this shouldn't matter too much it should easily just blend in with the rest of my blonde.

Over the past few months I have been using the John Frieda Frizz-Ease Dream Curls Styling Spray for light to medium frizz. I have been trying to use my natural hair which is quite wavy. So I decided to buy this product to allow myself to not use any heated products on my hair to allow it to be in the best condition it can be but for it also to look alright when I leave the house.

'Restores definition, elasticity and bounce to natural curls. Leaves hair touchably soft and shiny.'

For the directions it says to spray on damp hair and distribute evenly, you can also scrunch your hair to help create definition or use a diffuser. I normally just spray the product on my damp hair and leave it to dry naturally, sometimes I will scrunch my hair if I feel that my curls need a bit of help. I find that by doing my hair this way it helps define the curls more and also cuts down on the frizz which I do suffer from.

Since using the product I have found my natural hair a lot easier to work with, I can leave my house without applying any heat to my hair to sort it out. At night I tie my hair up in a bun on the top of my head this allows the curls to stay defined. The curls stay in my hair until I wash my hair again 2 or 3 days later. The produce lasts a while as well, I am just over half way through and I have been using it for the past few months. I find that I don't need a lot of the product as well, just a few sprays on each side of my hair is all that I need.

By looking on the Boots website it looks like the packaging has changed slightly, the price is just over £5. I will be buying this again when I run out as I think that it is a fantastic product it has allowed me to tame my natural hair and define my waves. I would recommend this product to anyone who suffers from frizzy wavy or curly hair.

I had been thinking for a while about buying the Tangle Teezer as I had heard quite a lot of good reviews about it. As my hair is getting longer and my normal round brush does pull at my hair at times I thought it would be a good idea to invest in a Tangle Teezer.

I went into my local Boots and brought an orange one which is priced at £10.99 which I wouldn't normally pay for a hair brush but because of the good reviews I decided to invest. 'The Tangle Teezer’s unique teeth configuration delivers rapid, pain-free detangling as well as polishing hair for high shine'.

I have been using the brush for the past two weeks and I have noticed that a lot less hair has been coming out when I brush it and it does leave my hair with a bit of a shine. At first I thought it may be hard to brush my hair because it does not have a handle like a normal brush, but the way that the brush is designed it is very easy to use. I would defiantly recommend the brush!

Hello,

As I have quite pale skin I always find it quite difficult to find a shade of foundation that doesn't make me look orange and actually last most of the day. I thought I would talk about my foundation experience over the past year or so.

For the past few months I had been using the L'oreal Infallible makeup lasting perfecting foundation in no.15 porcelain. I found the shade to be the best out there for someone with pale skin who doesn't want to pay loads.

However the problem I had with this product is the fact that I have combination skin, I have oily areas, dry and normal. It says in very small writing on the back of the product that it is for all skin types, but even with primer I found that the foundation didn't last very long. I found that I kept on having to powder my oily areas throughout the day even though it says that it 'fights the signs of make-up meltdown' for me this wasn't the case. I even changed my primer to see if this helped but sadly it was the same.

The price for this foundation is just over £12 which for me was quite a lot to be spending on foundation  as I am a student and I don't have a lot of money. Still I brought the foundation again and again for about 8 months or so.

The primer I changed from was 17 Photo Flawless, I found that this primer was perfectly fine but it just didn't seem to work well with the foundation.

The primer has a clearish colour, quite gel like and goes on quite well, it makes your face certainly feel smooth once you put it on.

I had a coupon for Boots for some money off No7 products, as a friend of mine works in Boots she helped me find a good primer that would work on my skin.

I picked up the Beautifully Matter primer as it says it 'stops shine for a matte finish and improves blemishes'. It is £10.50 in Boots normally, I got a couple of pound off it with the coupon so it only cost me about £8. I found that this primer was a lot better than the 17 one I had been using and I plan to get it again once I run out.

This primer is white, almost like a thick cream when you put it on you can feel your skin smoothing over and becoming a matte canvas.

While I was using the Infallible foundation I still looked out for other foundations that would be better for my foundation needs.

I did buy a few cheaper foundations such as 17 Miracle Matte foundation in soft ivory. As it was a Matte foundation I thought that this would help my face look less shiny which wasn't the case.

The colour was too dark for my skin as well even though it was the lightest they had.

As I was running out of the Infallible foundation I was planning to buy some more when I saw that the L'oreal True Match foundation was on offer. I can't remember exactly how much it was I think it might have been buy one get one half price, but I am not too sure. The foundation itself is just over £10 in Boots, I got it in the shade R1-C1 rose ivory.

I tested it on myself in the shop and I found that it was slightly darker than the Infallible foundation but it was something I could work with, I found that if you blended it in quite a lot it did match my skin.

I have been using this foundation for maybe about a month and I am so pleased with the results. I have quite a bit of red pigmentation in my face and the foundation completely covers it. I have found that it lasts a lot longer than the other foundations I have used and I do not need to powder my face as often as I did before. I have also found that a little foundation goes a long way although this might be thanks to the Real Techniques brushes I use to put on my foundation they are amazing!

The powder I use is one I have been using for years, I have had no problems with it and I don't plan to change it any time soon.

It is the Collection 2000 Pressed Powder in 18 ivory.

Hello,

I have been growing my hair since about October last year after I decided that dying my hair a light blonde often and wearing extensions wasn't the right path to go down anymore. I therefore changed my hair, dying it a dark blonde near the roots (to match my natural hair colour) and giving it an ombre effect to allow my natural colour a dark blonde to grow through. My hair has seemed to have grown quite a lot since October maybe about 3 inches maybe more, as it was just below my shoulders to begin with. Since I have now decided to grow out my fringe after having it for the last god knows how many years I would like my hair to grow a bit faster and it better condition! I looked up a few different ways to make hair a better condition and for it to grow quicker and I decided to buy this as the reviews I had read/watched were good so I thought I would try it. It says that it will stimulate my roots to allow my hair to grow and to also keep the rest of my hair in a healthy condition.

I brought it from my local boots at £7.99 it was on offer for 3 for 2 but because it was my first time using this product I didn't want to buy loads of tubs of it just in case it didn't work on my hair. I have only used the product twice so far as I brought it at the beginning of the week. I normally wash my hair every 2-3 days and so I plan to use the hair treatment each day I wash it.

It says that you need to use an 'egg' sized amount and leave it on the hair for 5 minutes. I did not use an egg sized amount I think that an egg size would be far too much product to use on my length of hair. I therefore took small amounts of the product and worked it into my hair until it felt like the roots were covered, I then finger combed my hair to distribute the remaining product that was left on my hands through the rest of my hair.

I found the product to be a great consistency, it wasn't too runny nor too thick. Although I am not a fan of pink I found the packaging and colour of the product not too bad. I did make me feel quite girly! I have read about some people not liking the scent of the product or loving it. To be honest I expected it to smell quite floral because of the pink theme but this is not the case. I can't quite put my finger on what it actually smells like but the scent isn't bad at all. I did find that the scent is sometimes left in my hair, but when I use the other products I put on my hair it fades slightly.

So far I have found that my hair feels a lot smoother and healthier obviously there is no rapid hair growth! It isn't going to make my hair be mermaid length in just a few washes. However it will hopefully stimulate my roots to make hair grow! So I am hoping that my hair will grow a bit faster and healthier than it normally does! My hair grows about half an inch or so each month now with this product hopefully a bit more. I shall be writing on here my hair progress to see what happens!

(Sorry for the dark photos I took them at night! I shall replace them)
