I haven't used the L'oreal conditioning toner in lilac since I first tried it. I am not sure why I haven't used it for a while, I think it may be because I felt that my hair needed to be longer so I could have more lilac on the tips that I felt comfortable with. Since my hair had grown a lot since I first used it I decided to try it out again a few days ago.

I put the toner on wet hair about 2-3 inches of my ends. At first the product didn't really take to my hair to made about half an inch of the ends of my hair slightly lilac/grey but not very much. I left it on for about an hour as well so I hoped it would of taken to my hair a lot more than it had done.

The next day I decided to try to do my hair again, this time I did it on dry hair as before I found that it took to my hair more when it was dry not wet. It took to my hair a lot more this time, as I had left it on for maybe 2 hours. It still hadn't took to my hair as much as I had wanted it to though, some bits of my ends were still blonde for some reason even though I had checked maybe about 5 times that all of my hair that I wanted to be lilac was covered.

I think that my hair wasn't light enough, after trying to dye my hair lighter a few weeks ago, my lighter hair had gone more of a blonde than quite a light blonde like it was before. As I had some light blonde hair dye I decided that I would reombre my hair just to make it more lighter at the ends so hopefully the lilac will take more to it next time. I also put purple shampoo through my hair to make it even more lighter.

I had reombred my hair with the lilac still on my ends, it has gone a lot lighter now almost a silver which I do quite like. I think that now because my ends are a lot more lighter the lilac should take to the end of my hair a lot easier. As I did want lighter hair for the summer my plan is to once a week purple shampoo the light blonde hair of my hair to keep on making it lighter and less brassy.

I shall try the lilac hair dye again, maybe on the weekend or sometime next week. I shall take photos of this as I forgot to take photos of the lilac hair dye this time.

L'oreal conditioning toner update

It has been the 4th wash since using the L'oreal conditioning toner in lilac and the colour has nearly completely gone. There is still a tiny bit of colour on the tips of my hair.

By using this product it has allowed me to add a pop of colour to my hair without the worry of it staining. I will be defiantly using this product again as it hasn't done any damage to my hair and it added a nice temporary colour to my hair. 

I plan to use it again when the weather gets better as I think it will look really nice in summer as I do like wearing pastel colours in the summer and I think it will look even better when my hair is a bit longer!

L'oreal conditioning toner update

I washed my hair for the 3rd time after putting on the L'oreal toning conditioner. The colour is still slightly there however it isn't very lilac now it is more of a silvery blonde, almost like an ash blonde. 

I was hoping that the product lasted for the 5 washes which is the longest it says it will last, but this doesn't look very hopeful. I will still use the toner when I feel like having a pop of colour in my hair.

I have been wanting to try the L'oreal Feria Pastel Toning Conditioner for a while now but I haven't got round to buying it. I decided when I was out shopping the other day that I would pick one up, I decided to get the pastel lilac for £6 at Asda.

The instructions say that you need to apply the toning conditioner to wet hair. I therefore wet my hair and put on an old T-shirt incase it stained. I sectioned my hair into two and applied it to the tips as this is where I wanted the lilac to go. It also says that you can brush it through with a comb which I did as well. I used about a 10 pence size of the conditioner for each part of my hair. It says that you should leave it for 15 minutes, however my friend used the pink one and it didn't really show up on her hair so I decided to leave it on for longer. I left it on for about 45 minutes and then washed it off after and left it to dry naturally. I could see that the tips had turned slightly purple when it was still wet so I hoped that this was a good sign. You can't see that well in the photo but the tips are slightly purple.

I then put my hair up in a bun and left it to dry over night and part of the next day. I could see that my hair had slightly turned lilac-ish at the tips but it seemed to look more silver than lilac. I am not sure if my hair wasn't light enough to begin with that it hasn't turned full pastel lilac or if I needed to apply more of the toner than I did.

I decided that I would apply the toner again to see if it would turn my hair any more lilac as now it was more lighter than it was before. I applied it this time on dry hair and I put a lot more of the product on making sure I covered the area I wanted to be lilac. I left it on for about 45 minutes again, I found that it turned out a lot better than the first attempt as it was a lot clearer in natural light that it was lilac. 

I washed my hair and the colour is still there, it isn't as lilac as it was it has faded slightly but as it only lasts 3-5 washes that will happen. 

Overall I am quite impressed with the product, although you would defiantly need a very light blonde base for the toner to work. With the lilac because you can get purple toner to cancel out the yellow/orange tones it will help lighten the hair. I will defiantly be trying out the other toners as well. I have found that I have got loads of the product left so for £6 it does go a long way if you are only doing a small amount of your hair like I have done. 

If you don't want to go down the toner route there are temporary hair dyes which I have previously used which would work as well. They are a bit cheaper and if you mix say a tiny bit of purple with conditioner it will turn it into a lilac pastel colour. 

I shall post an update on how long the colour stays in my hair. I am guessing now that my ends have been toned with a purple that once the dye clears the ends will be a lot lighter than the rest of my hair. However as I have ombre hair this shouldn't matter too much it should easily just blend in with the rest of my blonde.
